Car Detailing FAQ's

Car detailing is the process of cleaning, restoring, and enhancing your car’s appearance and condition using specialised tools, techniques, and products. Car detailing involves both exterior and interior services, such as washing, waxing, polishing, clay bar treatment, ceramic coating, engine bay cleaning, interior shampooing, leather conditioning, and more.

Car detailing has many benefits for your car and yourself. Car detailing can:

  • Protect your car’s paintwork from scratches, swirls, oxidation, fading, and other defects
  • Enhance your car’s shine and gloss by applying sealants or coatings that provide long-lasting protection and hydrophobic effects
  • Increase your car’s value by restoring its original beauty and preserving its condition
  • Improve your driving experience by cleaning your car’s interior thoroughly and making it more comfortable, enjoyable, and healthy
  • Impress others with your car’s immaculate appearance and show that you care about your car

The frequency of getting your car detailed depends on several factors, such as how often you drive your car, where you park your car, what kind of weather conditions you face, how much you care about your car’s appearance, and what kind of budget you have. Generally speaking, you should get a full car detail at least once or twice a year to keep your car in optimal condition. You can also get mini details or maintenance details in between full details to keep your car clean and protected.

Waxing, polishing, and ceramic coating are different types of exterior detailing services that have different purposes and effects.

  • Waxing is the process of applying a thin layer of wax on your car’s paintwork to add shine and protection. Waxing can fill in minor scratches and swirls and create a smooth surface that repels water and dirt. Waxing can last for a few weeks or months depending on the quality of the wax and the environmental conditions.
  • Polishing is the process of using a machine polisher and an abrasive compound to remove a thin layer of paint from your car’s surface. Polishing can correct paint defects such as swirls, scratches, oxidation, fading, and holograms by leveling out the paintwork. Polishing can also enhance the shine and gloss of your paintwork by creating a smooth and even surface that reflects light better.
  • Ceramic coating is the process of applying a liquid polymer on your car’s paintwork that bonds chemically with the surface. Ceramic coating can create a hard and durable layer that protects your paintwork from scratches, swirls, oxidation, fading, chemical stains, UV rays, bird droppings, and other contaminants. Ceramic coating can also create a super hydrophobic effect that makes water bead up and slide off easily. Ceramic coating can last for years depending on the quality of the coating and the maintenance.

The time it takes to detail a car depends on the size and condition of your car and the services you choose. A full car detail can take anywhere from 4 to 8 hours or more depending on the level of detail involved. A mini detail or a maintenance detail can take anywhere from 1 to 3 hours depending on the scope of work.
